••• This is a demo version of Glider PRO™ from Casady & Greene. •••
•••
••• What you need to do to get started •••
Glider PRO™ runs only in 256 colors and 16 grays.
Glider PRO™ requires System 7
Glider PRO™ needs about 3 megs to run on a 13" monitor in 256 color mode
(machines with smaller screens or running in 16 grays can decrease the
memory requirements by Getting Info on Glider PRO™ from the Finder)
When you bring up Glider PRO™ Demo, select the "Demo" menu item from under the "Options" menu. The game will automatically play through the "Demo House" for you (most of the way). Watch what the glider does and where it goes. Watch what objects it avoids, which ones it picks up, which ones appear to give it lift, etc. Try to play through the house yourself when you're comfortable with the premise of the game. (You can type <command>-Q to Quit the demo at any time.)
By default, the keys you'll primarily use to control your glider are the left and right arrow (cursor) keys on the keyboard. Select "New Game" from the "Game" menu when you are ready (get your fingers over the left and right controls).
When the game begins practice moving around a room. You must hold the keys down continuously if you want to move continuously in a given direction (taking you fingers off all the keys will cause your glider to drop striaght down). Remember to look for sources of lift (usually floor vents) and estimate the path your glider will take when you decide to leave a vent and make a run for another.
Play around, have fun, enjoy - you'll figure it out.
One final comment about controls: By default, the up arrow key will fire rubber bands (if you have any) and the down arrow key will engage your turbo thrust (you need batteries for this to work). Also, hitting left and right at the same time will turn your glider around (although it makes little difference to the glider which way it is flying).
••• Differences between "real" version and demo version •••
- In the real version you can create & edit houses with a built-in editor
- The house that ships with the real one has over 400 rooms,
5 seperate buildings (some of them 5 floors high) a huge underground
sewer maze, a graveyard, treehouse, and lots of challenging rooms and
surprises
- You can play houses created by others in the full version
- There are many more objects and backgrounds that are not seen in the
